As part of National Pharmacy Week, today we celebrate Pharmacy Technician Day. PharMerica Lead Data Entry Technician Brittany Standard has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Oklahoma City, OK.
When visiting customers, Brittany鈥檚 name comes up over and over by nurses who appreciate her dedication. As an example, on a Friday at 4 p.m., Brittany received a call requesting a patient鈥檚 total parenteral nutrition (TPN) be sent to their home instead of the long-term care facility they were being discharged from that day. As PharMerica outsources TPN, Brittany quickly called to see if they could accommodate the change of delivery.
Brittany coordinated the benefits with both the responsible party and the TPN pharmacy, getting signed orders from the new physician to the TPN pharmacy and the delivery scheduled to the patient鈥檚 home. Unexpected discharges happen often, and Brittany ensured the patient鈥檚 care would continue seamlessly. Both the family and facility appreciated how Brittany went above and beyond for this patient.
